Bernard Dunleavy who died aged 25 was the son of Bernard and Mary Dunleavy of Gowlane Kilkelly Co. Mayo. He was born there and lived in Ballyhaunis Co. Mayo. He enlisted at Jarrow.

Bernard is buried in Lagnicourt Hedge Cemetery.

Additional Information:

Bernard Dunleavy born 15th September 1892 at Gowlaun, Co Mayo was appointed to Durham County Constabulary on the 13th December 1913 as PC488, 3rd class constable, and was posted to Jarrow. He was appointed 2nd class constable on the 1st June 1914. Resigned on the 15th January 1915 and enlisted at Jarrow as Private 14841 Coldstream Guards. He is commemorated on Durham County Constabulary war memorial at Police HQ, Aykley Heads, Durham.
