215161 Pte. Henry George Winch British Army Middlesex Regiment from:Deptford Henry George Winch was my grandfather who I never met. I am proud to say that this brave man fought at the Somme and survived.
He volunteered in WW2 for home duties and was killed trying to save others. He escorted people to an air raid shelter on 19th March 1941 at Cayley Close in London which took a direct hit from a German bomber. All were killed.
