Born in Jarrow he was the son of William Benson and Susannah Bentley (nee Bentley) of Jarrow. On the 1911 census
Harry Bentley age 23 House Painter is with his parents William Benson and Susannah Bentley and family at 17 Henry Street, Jarrow . He enlisted in Sunderland.
Harry is remembered on the Thiepval Memorialand is commemorated on the Triptych in St. Paul's Church, Jarrow.
