100729 L/Cpl John Dixon MM.Army 9th Btn. Durham Light Infantry from:High Spen, Co Durham, England I have been looking for the records of my Grandfather's military medal and why he won it. I can remember my father telling me that when he was on sentry duty he closed his eyes and heard a click and when he opened them he saw a gun pointed at his head. Who ever it was said you asleep weren't you, of course he denied it, other wise he would have been shot for sleeping on duty. He also told me that he held his brother on the battle field when he died then buried him on the field.
