About
228012Patrick Graham-Campbell
Merchant Navy
I am researching my family tree and I know my grandfather, Patrick Graham-Campbell, was in the Merchant Navy. Very little is known about him, apart from a medal, a certificate of sea service and a few snippits I have just been given by a cousin who is looking for him too. We know the followingHe died in Coventry in 1963 at the age of 63. On his certificate of sea service it gives his date of birth as 05 Jan 1899 (no entry of birth has ever been found from 1895-1905) and birth place as London. His discharge book number is given as R268125. He was listed as a chef on the following ships and dates:
18/11/1942 - 12/12/1942 - HMS Mersey 13/12/1942 - 29/12/1942 - Keren 30/12/1942 - 09/01/1943 - HMS Mersey 07/11/1944 - 22/12/1944 - Marksworth 02/01/1945 - 22/01/1945 - Empire Faulity 08/02/1945 - 10/07/1945 - Empire Barbara 27/07/1945 - 02/09/1945 - Rock Pidgeon 06/11/1945 - 21/12/1945 - Foam Nille We have also found out in the last 2 days, that Patrick was in the Rifle Brigade 1917-1920.
Can anyone help with trying to trace him? He seems to have changed his name over the years and below is a list of names we know he did combine to make a new ID for when the need arised:
Ranee Trevor Campbell (used this in 1931 for his marriage) Patrick Trevor Campbell Patrick Raymond Campbell Patrick Graham Campbell Patrick Graham - Campbell It is thought his date of birth was 05 Jan 1899 (possibly 1900). His father is thought to be Donald Leslie Campbell. It is understood that in 1913-1916 he was at Highbury Industrial School and he was thought to be living with a Mr and Mrs McClean who owned/traded under McCleans Cycle Dealers, The Arcade, Islington.
Any scrap of info/picture/anything would be gratefully received.

Celebrate your own Family History
Celebrate by honouring members of your family who served in the Secomd World War both in the forces and at home. We love to hear about the soldiers, but also remember the many who served in support roles, nurses, doctors, land army, muntions workers etc.
Please use our Family History resources to find out more about your relatives. Then please send in a short article, with a photo if possible, so that they can be remembered on these pages.
The free section of the Wartime Memories Project website is run by volunteers. We have been helping people find out more about their relatives wartime experiences since 1999 by recording and preserving recollections, documents, photographs and small items.
The website is paid for out of our own pockets, library subscriptions and from donations made by visitors. The popularity of the site means that it is far exceeding available resources and we currently have a huge backlog of submissions.
If you are enjoying the site, please consider making a donation, however small to help with the costs of keeping the site running.
