Wanted: Digital copies of Group photographs, Scrapbooks, Autograph books, photo albums, newspaper clippings, letters, postcards and ephemera relating to WW2. We would like to obtain digital copies of any documents or photographs relating to WW2 you may have at home.

If you have any unwanted photographs, documents or items from the First or Second World War, please do not destroy them. The Wartime Memories Project will give them a good home and ensure that they are used for educational purposes. Ldg Cook. Alfred Edward Gower HMS St Tudno

I came across Alfred Gower's war medals and service papers. HMS St Tudno was the last ship entered on his service record from 28th of September 1943 to 29th of September 1945. He received his LSGC medal on 30th June 1935. He joined the RN on 3rd of Oct 1921.

ERA4. Frederick George Adams HMS Wildfire

Tropical Shorts aboard HMS Rajah

My father, Frederick Adams joined the Royal Navy on 1st of March 1943 for the duration of hostilities and attended HMS Wildfire at Chatham, training as an Articifer. From 29th of May 1943 he was sent to Queenborough pier, Isle of Sheppy, for minesweeper duties at HMS Wildfire and then with HMS St Tudno until 17th of December 1945. After this he was transferred back to HMS Pembroke at Chatham. He Joined HMS Rajah a Lend Lease carrier on 19th of January 1946 and embarked on a world tour to repatriate Prisoners of War and Logistics. He was released from the Royal Navy on 26th of August 1946.




Sgnlmn. Owen John Barnard HMS St Tudno

My Dad, Owen Barnard, joined the Royal Navy in 1943 at the age of 17. He trained at HMS Royal Arthur, Scotia, Valkyrie ll and Pembroke before he joined HMS St Tudno as a Signalman in 1944. He remained on this ship based in Holland until he was discharged at the end of the war.
