HMS Aberdeen
HMS Aberdeen was launched in 1936, built at HM Dockyard, Devonport. At teh outbreak of war Aberdeen was recalled from Malta to Britain for convoy defence duties in the South Western Approaches. Between July and October 1940 she undertook convoy defence in the North Sea and the North Western Approaches, the returned to the Atlantic. Aberdeen underwent a refit in March 1941 then resumed Atlantic Convoy duty. In November 1942 she was deployed to Gibralta to support Operation Torch. In June 1943 she joined the West African Command based at Freetown, returning to the UK in May 1944 before sailing for Bermuda for a refit. She returned to Freetown in September and remained on convoy duty until the end of the war. She was was kept in reserve at Gibraltar until the end of 1946 and was sold for scrap in 1949.
