Pte. Thomas Edward Scott 2/1st Anti Tank Regiment Tom Scott was born on 17th Nov 1914 in
Lismo, Australia. He served with 2/1st Anti Tank Regiment and was
taken as a prisoner of war on 12th of April 1941 at Vevi in Greece. He became
Prisoner of war number 3822 and arrived at Stalag 306 (XVIII D) according to a list received by the Red Cross on 30th of July 1941. He was transferred from Stalag XVIII D to Stalag XVIII B at Nebenlager on 31st of July 1941 according to a list dated 1st of August 1942.

Tpr. Adam Jamieson Cairns Royal Scots Greys Adam Cairns enlisted into 52nd (Lowland) Divisional Royal Army Service Corps Territorial Army on 14th of April 1936.
He was posted to Anti-Aircraft on 1st November 1938 and discharged from Territorial Army on 16th of January 1939 having enlisted into the Regular Army as a Trooper of the Calvary of the Line.
He was posted to Palestine with The Royal Scots Greys.
on 28th September 1939 he was posted to 7th Dragoon Guards, Royal Armoured Corps. He transferred to Royal Armoured Corps and posted to British Forces Greece on 28th of February 1941.
Adam was captured on 28th of April 1941 and sent to POW camp in Corinthia, Greece, then transferred to Stalag XVIIIB on 28th of July 1941.
He was then transferred to Stalag XVIIIA and was sent to various work camps until 1945 when he was liberated.

Pte. Aloysius Dennis "Ally" Murphy 2/4th Battalion Ally Murphy joined the AIF during October 1939 at a small country town of Cootamundra. He marched in during the same month and was initially based at Liverpool where he was officially taken on strength in November that year.
In March of 1940 he was shipped to Greece where he as captured on 13th of April 1941 while taking part in Rear guard action. The Germans had bypassed the defenders and occupied the area in the rear of their positions. After having been taken prisoner and over the next few years was transferred to various Stalag camps including AFW 3011, AFW 3014, Stalag 18D, 18B,and finally XV111A.
After the defeat of Germany he arrived in London in May 1945.
Following his demobilization Ally spoke very little of his time as a prisoner however later research indicated that he kept the Germans on their toes.

Sgt Thomas Henry "Haley" Hale 4th Hussars Haley spent time in Stalag 18B as a POW

Pte. Charles Arthur Lake 2nd Btn. Royal Norfolk Regiment Charles Lake (my wife's late grandfather) was part of the Dunkirk rearguard and taken prisoner by the Germans.
He spent the rest of the war as prisoner 10657 in Stalag XVIIIB and survived the Long March To Freedom.
He died at home in Norfolk in 1982.

Pte. Herbert Louis Steward 2/3rd Battalion Bert Steward was interned in Stalag 18D from 28th pf August 1941 at Maridor after being captured in Greece or Crete. On an unknown date he moved to Oflag IIIC in Lubben/Spree. He was moved to Stalag 18B Spittal an der Drau arriving 10th of November 1942 and arrived at Stalag 383 15th of April 1943.

Spr. Robert Blair Sim 6th Coy NZ Engineers POW 4110 Robert Blair Sim transferred from Stalag 18B to Stalag 18A Germany on the 9th of March 1943.

Cpl. Thomas Stanley Downes Royal Engineers My father Thomas Stanley Downes was in Stalag 18b. I have other postcards he sent back from the camp .. Dad was a corporal in the Royal Engineers and captured at Crete with a load of Australian troops.

S/Sgt. James Wilfred "Tug" Wilson James Wilson of the Royal Marines was held in Stalag 18b.

Charles Randall Brown 2/6th Btn. I am looking for any information regarding my grandfather, Charles Randall Brown, from Victoria Australia who was in 2/6 Battalion, he was acotured in Crete and held as a POW in Stalag 18A and 18B. If anyone reading this has relatives who are still living who may have had a similar war experience or may have even known my grandfather please contact me.
