Pte. Richard George Savage

British Army Royal Army Service Corps

from:Croydon

All we were told as children was that our Grandfather, Richard Savage at one stage had been missing, presumed dead, but in 1947 he returned home to Croydon. I have only just really started researching my grandfather's time during WWII. It turned out that he had been held as a POW in Stalag XX-B, and I believe also in Stalag IV-B. I have only just found out the info on his regiment and POW camp after posting the photo of him on facebook to see if anyone knew which cap badge it was, thankfully someone did. Apart from this little snippet I know very little more but will be now contacting the records office for anything they may have.
