Flight Lieutenant (Pilot) Guild was the son of John Herbert Guild and Jennie Winnifred Guild (nee Armstrong), of Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.

He was 24 when he died and is buried in the collective grave 270-276 in the Idum Churchyard in Denmark.

His bomber was engaged by a nightfighter over Denmark. The planes exchanged fire and MZ901 was finally shot down and crashed at Idom, Denmark.
