Pte. Leslie Walker

British Army Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers

from:Bradford

Leslie Walker was my dad, a private I think, he said he refused promotion. He didn't like talking about the war. He was in the Netherlands, billeted with Dutch families whom he stayed in touch with later. He had gone to college in Bradford to learn engineering before joining the army and said his job was to repair any kind of transport. At some stage he was blown out of a tank and sustained a knee injury. He was with a couple of other lads at the time who he knew throughout his life.
