CPO. Charles Redvers Maddern GM.

Royal Navy HMS Defiance

from:Penzance

Charles Maddern was a cousin of my late father. His wife Ada was a Reynolds at birth and they had no issue. I believe Charles was in Plymouth during WW2 based at HMS Defiance, a shore based site and engaged in bomb disposal. I saw (years ago) a photo of him defusing a butterfly device (presumably taken during the war). He ended his life living with his wife at a caravan park near Ivybridge in Devon.
