Roman Fedorovich Lunev

(d.2nd Jan 1943)

My grandfather Lunev Roman Fedorovich was born in 1907 in a small Siberian village. He grew up in a large peasant family. After the Revolution of 1917, his father was deported. The property was taken away. My grandfather felled the forest. Worked on a tractor. He was taken to the war in early 1942. 25th of May 1942 together; Thousands of Soviet soldiers was captured by the Nazis and was transported to Germany to the Stalag camp 4B. Soviet prisoners were starved. They were not given water. People were drinking water from puddles. Because of such bad conditions, he died on 2nd of January 1943. All the dead were buried in trenches in a common cemetery. I really want to go to this cemetery and bow to the ashes of my native man. We learned about his fate only in 2008. My grandmother. My father and his brother died in ignorance of the fate of my husband and father. I am very proud of my grandfather. We all regret his bitter fate. Peace be with the soul and rest in The Kingdom of Heaven.
