229506 Frederick Percy Allen Royal Air Force 288 Sqdn. My father, Frederick Percy Allen, was part of the ground crew for this squadron. He had just turned 20 years of age when the Squadron was formed. He came from Lincolnshire (Gainsborough/Boston). At some point he was stationed in the Norfolk area because that's where he met my mum (they married in June 1945). My dad also spent some time near or at Duxford. Do you have any information on this squadron, or know of anyone who was also part of the ground crew. Does anyone have a connection with 288 Squadron that was formed at Digby on 18th of November 1941? It was based at a number of airfields in the region including Wellingore, Coleby Grange, Collyweston, Church Fenton, Hutton Cranswick and East Moor.
