Pte. Jack Milligan
British Army 2nd Coy Royal Engineers
from:Weymouth
My father Jack Milligan, joined up in 1939 to the royal engineers dorset reg. 2nd coy. He was on search lights on Portland Bill area, then guns. He was classed as an imature when he joined so couldn't go abroad but his brother Ted did. He then moved to be a field cook as he liked to do as many courses as he could. He then took a course in cyphers and codes and still kept his engineers badge, but was moved over to the signals where upon he went to Italy about 1943.
