James Reid
British Army Royal Corps of Signals
from:Glasgow
My dad James Reid served in the Royal Corps of Signals as a signalman during WW2. I'm not sure if I have his unit section correct: it might have be the 'T.M. Section' he was in as there is mention of this on a photo.
He never spoke to me about his time during the war, maybe because with me being young and a girl, maybe he didn't think I'd be interested. I am very interested now though. Sadly dad passed away in 1983 when I was young, so I never really had the chance to ask him about how he spent the war years. I do however have some photos of him from the war on which he wrote where the photos were taken as well as who was in the photo with him so at least I know where he spent the war years.
As far as I can gather, he started of based at York before moving abroad in 1942 to India where he spent 2 years in Mhow and Calcutta. He also spent time in Burma and Jhansi (1945), and Singapore.
If anyone recognises either themselves, one of their friends, or a family member, it would be nice if I could learn something of my dad's time during the war years.
