221764 Sgt. David George Powell British Army 53rd Reconnaissance Regt from:Cwmdare, S. Wales My father spoke very little of his time during the Second World War. But I remember at his funeral several of his "old pals" recalling his capture of some Germans single handed in a cellar. They laughed as they recalled hearing his loud voice shouting at them .... He was a drill sergeant. He went to several reunions in S'Hertershenbosch ... Where the locals looked after them royally.
My father really liked the Dutch people and mentioned how they had helped himself and others whilst under severe stress themselves. We should always remember these wonderfully courageous young men who gave so much of their lives for us. I am so deeply proud of my Father and I thought he deserved a mention, no matter how small. I have photos and will post them as I find them.
