William Wightman was the son of William Stuart and Sarah Wightman of Jarrow, and husband of Hannah Pollock Wightman of Jarrow.
He served with the Royal Army Service Corps and died in January 1947 aged 20. he is buried in Tel El Kebir War Memorial Cemetery in Egypt.
He is also commemorated on the WW2 Roll of Honour Plaque in the entrance of Jarrow Town Hall.
