John Stewart was born in 1920 in Jarrow, the son of John William and Jane Ann Stewart (nee Parrett) of Jarrow. He died aged 20 and is remembered on the Tower Hill Memorial, Panel 37. He is also commemorated on the WW2 Roll of Honour Plaque in the entrance of Jarrow Town Hall.
