Thomas Smith was born in Jarrow in 1913. He was the son of Thomas William and Mary Smith of Jarrow and the husband of Edith Smith (nee Hunter) also of Jarrow.
He died aged 20 and is buried in Ramleh War Cemetery.
Thomas is commemorated on the WW2 Roll of Honour Plaque in the entrance of Jarrow Town Hall.
