Alfred Lown died aged 23. He was born in Jarrow in 1916, son of Benjamin and Ellen Lown (nee Walls) of Jarrow. Alfred is remembered on the Tower Hill Memorial and is commemorated on the WW2 Roll of Honour Plaque in the entrance of Jarrow Town Hall.
