Herbert "Bert" Turner Royal Navy HMS Manchester from:Middlesbrough (d.14th Aug 1941) Bert (or Bertie as my grandmother used to call him) was 21 years old when the Manchester was hit and was one of the casualties. She understood that he died from oil that was in his lungs on 14.8.1941. He is buried in Malta Naval Cemetery and was the son of Herbert and Sarah Ann Turner of Middlesbrough. His full name is not used on his headstone - it reads Bert Turner.
