W/O Wilfred L. Morneau
Royal Air Force 103 Squadron
from:Windsor, Ontario, Canada
My father Bill Morneau's squadron was the 103rd of the RAF. He was a navigator on a Lancaster that was shot down over the Channel. He was the only survivor and was picked up by the Germans. My father, when he parachuted out of the plane, had a parachute cord wrapped around his neck. When the Germans picked him up, he could not stand. Later they found out that he had a broken neck. My father spent about 3 months in a German hospital and then shipped out to a POW camp. This all happened in 1941 and his camp was liberated by the Russians in 1945. My father served from 1939 till 1945. Thank you from a grateful son.
