208166 Thomas Albert "Tich" Pavely Royal Air Force from: Finchley, London My father Thomas Albert (Tich) Pavely was shot down over Italy on route to Malta in about 1940. He spent most of war in Stalag Luft 111. As with most Dads he did not talk about his time in the POW camp he just said it's better you do not know. My first recollection was the first Christmas that the Great Escape was on TV, out of the blue Dad said "I was in that camp, we were made to march through the winter at the end of the war but that was all". We know he was a navigator on small bombers maybe Wellingtons or Blenhims. Does anyone have any memories of him? I would like to know the best places to look for information to put together some history for the kids. Mum was a WAAF and tended the pilots when they came back and had many sad stories.
