WO11 CSM Ted Chapman MM.

British Army Royal Engineers

from:Paddington, London

(d.31st May 1940)

My great uncle Ted Chapman was killed on the beaches of Dunkirk. My nan always talked of her brother Ted with great affection, and always told us when he was killed, his men refused to leave him on the beaches they carried his body home which must off been hard for them.

After nan passed away I came across a picture of his grave stone. Cutting a long story short I found Ted in the Royal Engineers graveyard in Shornecliffe. It's a beautiful cemetary overlooking the sea. I would like to find out more about how my uncle Ted was killed and any other information about him and his men.
