Frederick Green was called up in 1939 for the Devon & Cornwall Light Infantry, and later transferred to Corps of Signals. He served in Italy and sent home one of the messages conveying news of Mussolini's execution. He was injured by shrapnel in 1944 and took part in Battle of Monteriggioni.
