Fus. Clifford Boulton

British Army

from:Oldham

Clifford was my mums cousin and was a pow in Stalag XXIA I have recently seen a postcard he sent to my Nan and Grandad on 7th June 1942. in it he thanks them for sending him woodbines and wishes uncle Joe and Winnie would start shaping up as he has been a guest of Adolf for long enough. Joe and Winnie are apparently Stalin and Churchill. My mum seems to remember that he tried to escape and was hanging under a bridge whilst the Germans were above treading on his hands. Does anyone know anything about Clifford and where he may have been sent when the camp closed in 1943?
