United States Navy USS Grant

Morris Flakne was my uncle and served on the USS Grant during WWII and the Battle of Surago Strait. He was wounded in the conflict. He has passed away and never spoke much of his experiences. I teach American History and would like my students to study the War through the eyes of the men who served.
I am trying to locate anyone who knew my uncle or served on the USS Grant during this time period. I would greatly appreciate any assistance I can get.
