Sgt. Victor Issac Stockel

British Army Durham Light Infantry

from:Woodford Green, Essex

My Father Vic Stockel was involved in some way in getting supplies to our troops across Neimagen Bridge whilst under sniper fire and was awarded the Oak Leaf Cluster. I believe that, although the bridge was damaged, this might have been accomplished in a fleet of jeeps. Others who might have been involved in that event are believed to be Staff Sargeant Hockley and Sergeant Gold.

If anyone could throw any more light upon this event I would be most grateful to hear from you.
