William McLean joined up on 20 June 1940 in 50th South Lancashire Regiment and on 09 Oct 1940 was transferred to 9th South Lancashire. On 09 Feb 1943 was transferred to 1st South Lancashire and on 08 April 1943 attached to 3 Beach Group. On 02 July 1944 he embarked to North West Europe. On 08 Nov 1945 he was transferred to 38 RHU which I believe was East Lancashire Regiment before being released and dishcarged in Jan 1946.
