Mary Ethel Fleming
Women's Land Army
from:
I was stationed at Overton on Dee, Queensbridge Hostel, North Wales, 1945, I did general farm work, thrashing, apple picking, collecting eggs and potato picking, stooping the corn. We had to do the work as the men were away. 50 land girls where stationed there, I remember Meridith, Margaret Nickelson became my best friend and she came to stay with me in Blackburn when we were on leave and I stayed at hers in Lancaster, we used to go to the Floral Hall in Morecambe in our uniforms when we were on leave to do the jitter bug.
I would love to hear from anyone who was stationed with me at the same hostel.
