My uncle Earl Tyndal served on the Boise, he was killed in action in one of the forward gun turrets. It may have been during the battle of Esperance, I’m not sure. I only have childhood memories of the story, but remember reading about his service and seeing his name listed as one of the KIAs in the book “Pick Out the Biggest”.
