Flt Lt Ivor Philip Chester Goudge

Royal Air Force 12 Squadron

from:Banstead Surrey England

(d.30 May 1943)

F/L Ivor Goudge (my Father), was the pilot of Lancaster No. ED.996 which was operating with No.12 Squadron. The aircraft took off from RAF Wickenby on the night of 29/30 May 1943, and was detailed to operations against Wuppertal, but failed to return from the mission, and was presumed lost over the target area, due to enemy action. The crew details were:

  • 42562 F/L IP Goudge - pilot (killed)
  • 1501247 Sgt J Gorton - navigator (POW)
  • 1348445 Sgt R Richmond - bomber aimer (killed) 1113723
  • Sgt V Wells - wireless operator (killed) 1444939
  • Sgt AE Grahame - flight engineer (killed)
  • 1398617 Sgt N Hatch - mid-upper gunner (killed)
  • 1508882 Sgt J Hardman - rear gunner (killed)

My Mother was carrying me at the time so I never got to know my Father. I have been trying to contact any living descendants on my Father's side. I know that he had a sister named Margaret (Peggy). His parents were Philip Arthur Montague and Edith Evelyn Goude. They died in Banstead, Surrey. Any information regarding my Father or the Squadron would be very much appreciated. I have several pages on the No. 12 Squadron if anyone is interested
