Thomas Murray

British Army Pioneer Corps

I am searching for a Thomas Murray who was in the Pioneer Corps. My mother has told me that he was on the Lancastria when it was hit by German aircraft on the 17th July 1940 . To bring my records up to date it would be nice to put his army number and rank next to his name on my family tree. We have tried other avenues to get this information but have drawn a blank. We know he was born on the 1st July 1900 which would have made him 40 years old. although my Grandmother was told that he was missing he later turned up alive and well and lived until 1969. Any information received would be gratefully appreciated as I am currently researching my family history.
