Aerographers Mate 1st Cl John Nathaniel "Jack" Given
USNR USS Boise CL-47
My father served on the Boise from early '42 through the end of the war. He was on board for all major campaigns including the Battle of Cape Esperance and McCarther's tour of the Phillipines. As Aerographers Mate or meteorologist, he was positioned near the Bridge of the ship and we have some of the messages or reports.
As with many servicemen that saw action, he didn't speak much about the actual battles or even the war in general.
