Signalman Robert " " Roy. , . (d. 30th Aug 1945) Unfortunately I know almost nothing about my Uncle Robert Roy, other than he died as a POW in Changi Singapore and is buried at Kranji Cemetery in Singapore. My son is currently in the far east and plans to visit the grave next week. If anybody has any info, we would be very interested.John Roy

L/Sgt. John James Kennedy. British Army, 68th Heavy A A Regt. Royal Artillery. (d.30th Aug 1945) My Grandfather, L/Sgt John James Kennedy, was in the 68th Heavy A A Royal Artillery Regt.
He was killed 30th August 1945 andis buried in Mazargues Cemetary, which is just outside Marsailles, South of France.
The story we were always told was that he had chartered a private flight home from France, to surprise his family, as he was travelling via ship, was taking too long. So together with a couple of others, they got a flight, which was then struck by lightening and all aboard died. I have been fortunate on a number of occasions to visit his grave which is kept to an excellent standard by the CWGC. Following recent visit and attempts to find out exactly where and what my grandad's regiment were doing, I keep hitting brick walls. I was wandering if anyone can help me fill in the gaps in regards to manouveres his regt were involved with. Was it that he was a prisoner of war? Any info would be greatly appreciated thanks. Gnr. Arthur Wallace. British Army, 68th Heavy AA Rgt. Royal Artillery. (d.30th August 1945) Arthur Wallace was my grandfather on my mother's side. He is buried at Mazargues War Cemetery, Marseilles.Michael Styles

Sgt. Thomas Patrick O'Keeffe. British Army, Corps of Military Police. (d.30th August 1945) Thomas O'Keeffe was my grandfather. He died in August 1945. He originally served with the Royal Irish Fusiliers then, during WW2, joined the Corps of Military Police.
Following his death, his widow Kathleen Alice O'Keeffe moved to Darwen in Lancashire with her two young children and made a new life there. Her daughter, Kathleen Roselyn O'Keeffe, married my father Peter Summerfield and they had three children.
He is buried in St. Conleth's Cemetery in County Kildare.
I understand he was a drummer in the Army and would love to find more information on this, as well as his other military records.

Sig. Robert Roy. British Army, 28 Wing Section Royal Signals. (d.30th August 1945) Robert Roy was my uncle. But, sadly I never met him and my Dad never spoke of him much. Whilst trying to research my Dad's service history in the Royal Marines I decided to look for Robert and was very pleased to find his name on the Kranji War Memorial list. My son visited Singapore a few years ago and took a very moving picture whilst he sat looking at the monument.
In March this year I am going to Singapore to see the memorial and also to Burma where I believe Robert served and was captured by the Japanese and ended up dying in Changi Prison. John Charles Roy
