Wanted: Digital copies of Group photographs, Scrapbooks, Autograph books, photo albums, newspaper clippings, letters, postcards and ephemera relating to WW2. We would like to obtain digital copies of any documents or photographs relating to WW2 you may have at home. If you have any unwanted
photographs, documents or items from the First or Second World War, please do not destroy them.
The Wartime Memories Project will give them a good home and ensure that they are used for educational purposes. Please get in touch for the postal address, do not sent them to our PO Box as packages are not accepted.

Dvr. Albert " " Carter. , . (d.27th Mar 1945) Albert Carter was my Dad he was a driver and was killed in action on 27th March 1945, somewhere on the German borders, he is buried in the Reichswald forest. He was transferred from 9th battalion Hants Regiment to RASC on 11/2/42. I would love to hear from any one who knew of him and exactly where and how he died.

Fus. Frederick George Gillan. British Army, 1st Battalion Royal Northumberland Fusiliers. (d.27th March 1945) Two weeks ago I lost my last uncle. When he died a few papers and information came to me about the first uncle who died and the first to die in W.W.2 in Italy. I have been trying to find out when and where he died and visit his grave as both my parents, when they were alive, wanted to go and pay their respects. Going by my mother's information, my Uncle Freddy, as my mum call him, died and was buried at Monte Cassino.
When I checked with the War Graves Commission they checked their records and could not find him. I only had his name and that he had died in Italy, was all the information my mother had. The papers that my uncle had showed that Uncle Freddy died on the 27th March 1945 and was buried and the reburied in Bologna Commonwealth War Cemetery in 1947 and that my uncle, unknown to my parents, had visited the cemetery in Bologna.
I contacted the C.W.G.C. who gave the information as to the name of the cemetery and his date of death, with his service number. I am trying to find out when my uncle joined up and where he served where and how he died. Any information you can provide will be gratefully received. Michael Evans

F/O. Maurice George Gant. Royal Canadian Air Force, 571 Squadron. (d.27th Mar 1945) Flying Office (Navigator (Bomber))Gant was the Son of Maurice D. and Sophia Gant of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
He was aged 21 when he died and is buried in the Leek (Zevenhuizen) General Cemetery, Groningen, Netherlands.

F/O. Gordon David Hudson. AFC. Royal New Zealand Air Force, 571 Squadron. (d.27th Mar 1945) Flying Officer (Pilot) George Hudson was the Son of William and Elizabeth Annie Hudson, of New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand.
He was aged 26 when he died and is buried in the Leek (Zevenhuizen) General Cemetery, Groningen, Netherlands
