Wanted: Digital copies of Group photographs, Scrapbooks, Autograph books, photo albums, newspaper clippings, letters, postcards and ephemera relating to WW2. We would like to obtain digital copies of any documents or photographs relating to WW2 you may have at home. If you have any unwanted
photographs, documents or items from the First or Second World War, please do not destroy them.
The Wartime Memories Project will give them a good home and ensure that they are used for educational purposes. Please get in touch for the postal address, do not sent them to our PO Box as packages are not accepted.

Group Captain John Alexander "Speedy" Powell. DSO, DFC, OBE Royal Air Force, 19 Sqd.. (d.18th Aug 1944) I understand that Group Captain Powell was at Feltwell during WW2 although not as a Group captain at the time. He was a pilot and flew Wellingtons amongst other aircraft. Can anyone confirm whether he did?Jeremy Powell

Sgt. John LLewellyn Eaton. British Army, 5th Btn. Queens Own Cameron Highlanders. (d.18th Aug 1944) John Eaton was the father of two of my friends who lived at 5 Bulwer Street, Everton, Liverpool. He left a widow Anne Evelyn and sons Kenneth and Leslie. He was in the Liverpool Scottish and volunteered for the 5th Bn Queens Own Cameron Highlanders. John landed in Normandy on the 7th of June 1944 and was in action during the taking of Caen and Falaise Gap and now lies in Banneville-La-Campagne War Cemetery. His brother Ernest was killed later (also 5th Bn) on the 4th October 1944. Buried in Valkenswaard War Cemetery Holland. Alan Hayes

Cpl. Horace Richard Taylor. British Army, 2nd Btn. West Yorkshire Regiment. (d.18th Aug 1944) My Grandfather, Horace Taylor died in India, I never knew him and have no photo of him but he will never be forgotten. I will keep searching so I can pass his story on to his great grandsons and beyond. Suzanne Taylor

P/O Alan James McLay. Royal Australian Air Force, 59 Squadron. (d.18th Aug 1944) Alan James McLay was lost whilst flying from Scotland. His resting place is Wick Cemetery, Wick, Scotland.Doug McElroy

Pte. Norman Bell. British Army, 10th Btn. Durham Light Infantry. (d.18th August 1944) Norman Bell served with 10th Durham Light Infantry. Jean Young

Pte. William Joseph Brown. British Army, 5th Btn. Cameron Highlanders (Queen's Own). (d.18th Aug 1944) He left his wife Florrie, daughter Jean (age 3), and son George (age 1) for Normandy. He is laid to rest in Banneville-la-Campagne War Cemetery.Gary Frame
