Wanted: Digital copies of Group photographs, Scrapbooks, Autograph books, photo albums, newspaper clippings, letters, postcards and ephemera relating to WW2. We would like to obtain digital copies of any documents or photographs relating to WW2 you may have at home. If you have any unwanted
photographs, documents or items from the First or Second World War, please do not destroy them.
The Wartime Memories Project will give them a good home and ensure that they are used for educational purposes. Please get in touch for the postal address, do not sent them to our PO Box as packages are not accepted.

Gnr. Frank Bullock. British Army, 4/2 Maritime Rgt. Royal Artillery. (d.7th December 1942) I am looking for anyone who has any photographs of Frank Bullock. Sadly, he died in WW2 on 7th December 1942, aged 29. His children have never seen a photo of him.Joe Smith

Sq.Ldr. Robert Sinckler Woodward. DFC Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, 263 Sqdn.. (d.7th December 1942) On 13th September a memorial was unveiled to two airmen, Sqn Ldr RS Woodward DFC and W/O DB McPhail RCAF at Noirmont Point Jersey. This point overlooks the place where both men were lost on 7th December 1942, during a Whirlwind attack on a German Convoy sailing between Jersey and Guernsey.
Both men are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial. Ian Le Sueur

W/O Donald Burton McPhail. Royal Canadian Air Force, 263 Sqdn.. (d.7th December 1942) On 13th September a memorial was unveiled to two airmen, Sqn Ldr RS Woodward DFC and W/O DB McPhail RCAF at Noirmont Point Jersey. L/Sgt. Nadav Waisel. British Army, Royal Artillery. (d.7th Dec 1942) Lance Serjeant Nadav Waisel is buried in the Richon-le-Zion Jewish Cemetery, Israel.

Gnr. James Orr. British Army, HQ 21lth Light Anti Aircraft Regiment Royal Artillery . (d.7th December 1942 ) James Orr is my maternal uncle. He became a prisoner of the Japanese when ordered to lay down arms in March 1942 after the surrender of Java. As far as is known, he was originally destined for the Desert war, but on arrival in Capetown, the Japanese having bombed Pearl harbour etc, they were ordered on to Singapore for the defence there, then on to Batavia in Java.
He was part of a detail of soldiers destined for Hakodate as slave labour, and was transported to Japan in what became known as the Hellships, because of the conditions on board the men suffered. Many died en route, and James was too sick to be moved on, so was placed in the so called military hospital (Kokura Military Hospital Japan) where he died shortly after his arrival. He was 28years old and left behind a wife and two very young children.

Cpl. Frederick Edwin Bertram Keene. Royal Marines, HMS Assegai. (d.7th Dec 1942) Frederick Keene served in HMS Assegai with the Royal Marines, he died at sea.
