Wanted: Digital copies of Group photographs, Scrapbooks, Autograph books, photo albums, newspaper clippings, letters, postcards and ephemera relating to WW2. We would like to obtain digital copies of any documents or photographs relating to WW2 you may have at home. If you have any unwanted
photographs, documents or items from the First or Second World War, please do not destroy them.
The Wartime Memories Project will give them a good home and ensure that they are used for educational purposes. Please get in touch for the postal address, do not sent them to our PO Box as packages are not accepted.

L/Cpl. John Cadden. British Army, 1/6th Btn. Queens Royal Rgt (West Surrey). (d.6th Sep 1944) I am looking for information about L/Cpl John Cadden. Does anyone have information about him?C. Cadden

Pte. Clarence Bilson. British Army, 1st Btn. Welch Regiment. (d.6th September 1944) Clarence Bilson died at Rimini, and is buried at Gradara Cemetery, Italy. He is commemorated on the new War Memorial erected in 2000 at Alexander House Community Resource Centre, Askern, Yorkshire, England.Bruce Westerman

Cpl. Oswald Victor Wittingham. British Army, 8th Btn. Royal Fusiliers. (d.6th Sep 1944) Oswald Wittingham is my great-grandfather. He was transferred to the 8th Royal Fusiliers on 6th of June 1944 and was killed in action in Italy in the September. He is buried in the Montecchio War Cemetery. Philippa Abbott

Tpr. James Rothwell. British Army, 44th Royal Tank Regiment. (d.6th September 1944) My Great-Uncle, James Rothwell was killed on 6th of September 1944. I believe by a Sniper, fighting at Kerkhoven, Belgium. He was aged 30, leaving behind a wife and two children. He was called up in 1940 and saw service through N. Africa, Egypt, Libya, Sicily, Normandy and lastly Belgium with the plan to link up with the 101st at Eindhoven. He is now buried at Leopoldsburg War Cemetery. I have only a couple pictures from a newspaper article and a couple of his gravesite. I was hoping somebody may have known him, and have some more detailed information about him and what he did? Tpr. James Rothwell. British Army, 44th Btn. Royal Tank Regiment. (d.6th September 1944) James Rothwell of 44th Royal Tank Regiment was killed on the 6th of September 1944.

Fus. Eric Baden Powel Farthing. British Army, 4th Btn. Northumberland Fusiliers. (d.6th Sept 1944) Eric Farthing died on the 6th of September 1944 in Brussels (Bruxelles), Belgium
He was in the 4th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, which landed at Normandy 27th of June 1944, and was engaged in securing the port of Antwerp.
During severe enemy action in Brussels, Eric was mortally wounded on the 6th of September and was buried in Brussels Town cemetery, Eveer, cared for by the Commonwealth War Graves.
He was son of John Hubert Baden Powell Farthing and Elizabeth Ellen Farthing, husband of Joyce Kathleen Farthing of Fulford, Yorkshire.
