- The Wartime Memories Project has been running for 24 years. If you would like to support us, a donation, no matter how small, would be much appreciated, annually we need to raise enough funds to pay for our web hosting and admin or this site will vanish from the web.
- 18th April 2024 - Please note we currently have a huge backlog of submitted material, our volunteers are working through this as quickly as possible and all names, stories and photos will be added to the site. If you have already submitted a story to the site and your UID reference number is higher than 263925 your information is still in the queue, please do not resubmit, we are working through them as quickly as possible.

Wanted: Digital copies of Group photographs, Scrapbooks, Autograph books, photo albums, newspaper clippings, letters, postcards and ephemera relating to WW2. We would like to obtain digital copies of any documents or photographs relating to WW2 you may have at home. If you have any unwanted
photographs, documents or items from the First or Second World War, please do not destroy them.
The Wartime Memories Project will give them a good home and ensure that they are used for educational purposes. Please get in touch for the postal address, do not sent them to our PO Box as packages are not accepted.

PFC. William Arthur Ryan Co. L 335th Infantry Regiment William Ryan served with 84th Division in Co.L 335th Infantry Regiment. He was involved in battles in the Rhineland and Ardennes, Central Europe Campaign.

Vincent Lee Thrasher Co. I 335th Infantry Regiment I was in the 84th Division 335th Reg Co I. Was cptured at Rochefort Brlgium on Dec 24th 45. I spent about a month at Gerolatein, Ger. Then started walking to a railroad that was still working. Was put on a boxcar with about 90 plus other prisoners and spent several days locked in there. Finally got to Stallag 12A at Limburg. I was put in the prison "hospital" and weighed in at 68 lbs. When the allies advanced to near there the walking wounded were moved out but I was able to stay behind. We were liberated 27th of March 1945.

PFC. Marion Woodrow Carter Co.I, 3rd Battalion 335th Infantry Regiment PFC Marion W. Carter, Infantry Rifleman, Company I, 3rd Battalion, 335th Infantry Regiment, 84th Infantry Division
He received 1st Bronze Star for gallantry at the Battle of Lindern.
He received 2nd Bronze Star and Purple Heart during the Battle of the Bulge, at Rochefort Belgium.
He was listed as Missing in Action on 24th December 1944, and then listed as Prisoner of War on 25th of December 1944, by the Red Cross.
He was taken to Stalag 9B, Bad Orb, and stayed until liberated in April 1945.
