photographs, documents or items from the First or Second World War, please do not destroy them.

Pte. T Doyle 5th Btn. Welch Regiment Pte.T Doyle served with the 5th Btn. Welch Regiment British Army. I have his unissued dogtags, made in preparation for deployment to the Far East and would love to get them home to his family. I am happy to cover all costs. If you are a family member or can put me in touch with them please get in touch. Update: Unfortunately The Wartime Memories Project has lost touch with Dan, his website, facebook page and email have all ceased to function. Pte. Byron Diment 5th Btn. Welch Regiment (d.30th June 1944) Byron Diment was aged 24 when he lost his life.

Sgt Samuel Ernest Morrall Blake 1/5 Btn. Welch Regiment (d.26th Oct 1944) Samuel Blake was my uncle. He was known as Morrall to his family.
He was in the 1/5th Battalion, Welch Regiment and died on the 26th of October 1944 in Holland. His final resting place is Uden War Cemetery in Holland.

Pte William Eric Gordon Evans 1/5 Btn. C Coy. Welch Regiment William Evans served with C Coy. 1/5 Btn. Welch Reg and in the South Wales Borderers.

Pte. Graham McNeil 1/5th Bn. Welch Regiment (d.30th November 1944) Private McNeil is buried in the Haelen (Buggenum) Roman Catholic Churchyard, Limburg, Netherlands.

Pte. Basil Watson Greaves 1/5th Btn. Welch Regiment (d.29th November 1944) Basil Greaves was the son of Alfred and Ethel Sutton Greaves of Ilkley, Yorkshire. He was 19 when he died and is buried in the Haelen (Buggenum) Roman Catholic Churchyard, Limburg, Netherlands.

Pte. Lorne Charles Crick 1/5th Btn. Welsh Regiment My grandfather Lorne Crick (known to some as Les) we believe joined the Army in 1939, although we are not sure of the exact date. He always spoke of the 2/5th battalion. However, according to his war records he was part of the 1/5th, so this still remains an area of some confusion.
He served in the Normandy campaign, although we believe he came across in the wave following the initial D-Day landings. He also served through the campaign in France and Belgium, and was seriously wounded in The Netherlands, near the village of Hoogeloon, according to the war records on 26th September 1944. After spending some time in a field hospital, near or in Hertogenbosch, he was flown back to the UK to recover from his injuries.
He lived a happy life, with his wife and son (my father) and passed away in 1982.
We have some stories he told which have survived, and some information compiled by the regiment's commander which sent out in a booklet to the surviving members of the regiment after the war.

L/Cpl. Francis Henry Platt 5th Btn. Welsh Regiment (d.11th Apr 1945) Frank Platt is buried in Becklingen War Cemetery.

Pte. Arthur William Johnson 5th Btn. D Coy. Welch Regmentt Bill Johnson was my father and the reason why he did not enlist until 26/2/1942 was that he was a bricklayer by trade. Until then he was "sent to Coventry" and labelled a coward despite the fact that he was doing his job. He could have stayed a civilian but could not take being labelled a coward so joined up. He was posted in the first instance to the General Services Corps and then to the Beds & Herts regiment. On 22/12/1942 posted to 15th Med R.A and later to 'D' Coy 5th Battn Welch Regt then from 13/10/1944 posted to N W Europe. He was discharged 12/12/1945 and resumed his bricklaying. His army pal was Roland Brace who I think was in the same unit. Both have since died.
