49th Royal Tank Regiment



   49th Royal Tank Regiment was formed in 1939 as a duplicate of the territorial 43rd Royal Tank Regiment. They were engaged in an infantry role guarding the North East of England until spring 1940 when their first tanks arrived. They proceeded to France in August 1944 and were renamed 49th Armoured Personnel Carrier Regiment later that year.

The Wartime Memories Project will give them a good home and ensure that they are used for educational purposes. I am searching for information about my grandad Robert Park(s) McCrobbie (Mac). He served with the 49th Royal Tank Regiment in WWII. I know that he was in the Rhine and that his tank was taken out. He was the driver. Does anyone know anything about him?
