44th Recce Regiment    44th Reconnaisance Regiment was formed in January 1941 and saw action in North Africa from July 1942 with 44th Division and XIII Corps. WJ Coxhead 44th Regiment Reconnaissance Corps WJ Coxhead served with the 44th Regiment Reconnaissance Corps British Army. William Henry Williams 44th Regiment Reconnaissance Corps (d.31st Jan 1945) We know very little about William Williams. He lost both his parents when he was young (pre-war), and his younger brother, Thomas Rees Williams, was in the RAF as an air gunner in 207 Squadron. He wrote to his brother whilst on leave. The message was brief, yet emotional. William was wounded by a stray bullet and died from that wound months after he was shot. He is laid to rest in Coriano Ridge War Cemetery in Italy.
