British Army 156 Bermondsey Brigade, B Bty. Royal Field Artillery
from:Blockhouse Street, Old Kent Road
I came across this letter in my grandfathers war records and thought I would like to share it. My grandmother was expecting my mother when my grandfather went to war, the photo I have attached was the first time he saw his daughter when he came home on leave.
Additional Information:
My grandfather was admitted to the 7th Stationery Hospital in Wimereux France on the 06/04/1918 suffering from the effects of Mustard Gas and Shell Wounds The transcript below is a letter that was written by my grandmother to the Army enquiring about her husband.Mrs A.E. Blute 89 Blockhouse Street Canterbury Road Old Kent Road SE 15
Dear Sir On April 17th 1918 I received a notice from you to the effect that my husband No 11646 Bombardier, F W Blute RFA B/156 Bde had been admitted into the 7th Stationary Hospital, Wimereux, France on the 6th April 1918 with gas and shell wounds, Since then I have only received two letters from him which is very unusual, his last address being Name & Number A Troop 13th camp RH & RFA Base Depot France. So I am writing this letter to you hoping you will be kind enough to try and find his present location. Thanking you in anticipation
Yours Respectfully A E Blute
P.S Dear Sir When you sent the notice to me you sent it to the old address, 52 Bells Garden Road, Peckham, will you kindly change it to the letter address.
