World War 1 One ww1 wwII greatwar greatHMHS Neuralia
The Neuralia was built by Barclay Curle & Co. at Glasgow and was launched on 12th September 1912 to carry 128 First Class and 98 Second Class passengers on the London to Calcutta Service for British India. During the Great War she served as a Hospital Ship and saw action in the Mediterranean and at Suvla Bay and Salonika, and in the Indian Ocean. She returned to the UK in March of 1916 and remained on station with the Home Fleet until September 1918 when she was converted to an ambulance transport.She returned to passenger service in July 1919 and again saw service in the Second World War, this time as a troop ship. She hit a mine off Southern Italy on the 1st of May 1945 and was sunk.
