On this day:

  • 23rd May 1917 Boys Battalion to Help US Farmers

  • Heavy Enemy Shelling   236th London Brigade Royal Field Artillery report heavy shelling of all roads tonight by the enemy and much gas used. D236 shelled with one Bombardier killed and ten men wounded and ammunition dump blown up. Firing with gas shells continued until morning 28th May.

    Bde. Moved back to MT ST ELOY area. Battalion marched from camp at 7.20am to avoid the heat of day.
