27th December 1915

On this day:


  • 3rd Monmouths out of line   On Dec 27th the 3rd battalion Monmouthshire Regiment was taken out of the front line and received orders to leave the Yser canal.

  • 6th London Bde Batteries Fire   6th County of London Brigade RFA report from Annequin. At 0825, 1032 and 1230 the 15th London Battery fired on A.28.b.4.5 to A.28.d.1.4 retaliating to enemy shelling of our trenches,the enemy ceased firing. Hit recorded on dug out. At 1015 observed men going along the road from a.30.c.8.1 to A.30.c.1.0. At 1020 the 17th London Battery fired on and dispersed a working party at A.29.b.2.0. At 1110 the 16th London Battery registered (with detached gun) G.5.b.7.7 to G.6.a.4.2. to G.6.c.3.8. At 1300 shells from German field guns were falling in the region of A.25.b.1.6 from Auchy Alley. At 1330 the 19th London Battery registered Pekin Alley. At 1513 the 16th London Battery fired on Cross trench in retaliation. At 1530 the 17th London Battery fired on Cross trench at request of Infantry.
