Killed in action 1st of July 1916 at Sausage Valley, Fricourt." in the Roll of Honour held in Darlington Library, believed to have been complied by the Town Council in the 1920s.
Charles has no known grave and is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial.
He was 28 years old, the son of John and Mary Cleminson, of 20, Southend Avenue, Darlington.
