237357 Pte. William Anderson Moodie British Army 16th Btn. Highland Light Infantry from:Arbroath William Moodie received a bad leg injury he was captured on the 18th of November 1916 at Mailly on the Somme and became a prisoner of war.
In February or March 1917, William as POW was in the War hospital in Cambrai, (Krg. Laz. Bay 6 Cambrai) being treated for a broken ankle or thigh.
William was re-repatriated from Germany on the 5th of May 1918 and admitted to King George Hospital, Stamford Street, Waterloo, London with a shot gun wound, ankle left, shrapnel wound.
He was discharged from Army on the 12th of December 1918 as no longer physically fit for war service and awarded the British War Medal and Victory medal.
On the 10th of 1929 William Moodie, aged 45 (passenger 175071), previously of 5 Hill Road, Arbroath, departed from Port of Greenock on the Canadian Pacific ship, Montrose, heading to port of Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada (Third class passenger, No 57).
